Monday Musings: Taking Control of Time

It's probably the longer summer days or the time away from an intense sports season with my kids, but I've been increasingly focused on taking advantage of the hours I have away from work. It also may be that I don't have a favorite series I'm watching right now. Whatever the reason, I feel like I've gained hours in my day!

For example, I've taken a walk after dinner or grabbed an hour at the pool with the kids. We've barbecued leisurely meals mid-week and run errands that we couldn't fit into the previous weekend. It feels like we've borrowed time from the work week and turned it over to our personal lives.
I know we may not be able to keep this up when school schedules return and our evenings are just as hectic as the days and weekends, but it's worth keeping in mind. If we're not exhausted on Monday or Tuesday nights in October, there's no reason why we can't bake cookies or play board games. Maybe by taking back that weekday evening, we can feel more ownership of our time.
