With the seasons changing, I’ve been updating my wardrobe in part through local upscale resale shops and online resale resources.
A favorite website of mine, if you know what you’re looking for, is Poshmark. I love looking for the nwt (new with tag) items from brands that are more moderately priced. This might include Athleta, Jcrew, Talbots, etc. I had a favorite staple tank top that was no longer sold, and I was able to stock up through Poshmark.
For those brands that might typically be out of my budget, like Sezane, Tory Burch and Tuckernuck, I might be looking for good used condition.
The other fun items to look for are vintage designer bags. If they are leather, they may need a little cleaning and care, but these are becoming fashion collectibles. I was at an event just the other day, and I saw a great Coach crossbody from the 90’s that looked and functioned perfectly!
My favorite feature is “make an offer.” I typically make an offer that is 25-30% below listing if it’s something I’d like to have, but I could live without. If it’s an item I would easily buy at full price and the item is listed reasonably, then I buy at list price or offer just under to shave off shipping costs.
Another thing to remember—this is a great source for Halloween costumes! I picked up one of my kid’s costumes entirely from eBay and Poshmark last week. It was fun to hunt for and since it may only be worn once, I was happy to save some cash and a little impact on the planet!
