The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox is such a "sweet" read for the holiday season.
The main character, Charlie Goodwin, is an up-and-coming celebrity chef who is hosting a baking show in Los Angeles. But wait...she has a twin sister! Cass is also a baker, but lives in their small hometown and runs the family bakery.
Just as Cass has broken up with her longtime boyfriend, Charlie suffers an injury at work. Instead of risking her career, she reaches out to the only person who could help her in this scenario--her identical twin sister. Since Cass desperately needs a change as well, they agree to a swap.
The swap is complicated by the obvious--interacting with people they don't actually know, job challenges and daily routines. Enter romance, and the twins really have chaos! As the complications and relationships unfold, the twins discover some surprises about their lives along the way.
The timeline is structured as a countdown to Christmas, so it's fun as a seasonal easy-read. It would make any Hallmark viewer happy, but it stops short of being too sappy for the average reader.
