What I'm Loving: Skylight Calendar

This school year, we needed to step up our planning around schedules. One of our kids is taking on a new activity, and I'm back in the office way more than I am at home. So, instead of moving from one room to the other to prep dinner, there is a 30-minute commute to consider.
After talking with friends and reading a lot of Reddit comments, we decided to try the popular Skylight calendar. Skylight is a tablet that showcases your family members' calendars along with additional features. There is an accompanying app that every family member can download to their device for portability or to add additional information.
The major issue I had with Skylight was the price tag. At around $250 for the 15" model, it's an expensive calendar! And I did not find it worth the investment without the meal planning feature, part of the $79 annual subscription. Over the summer, however, Costco had the 15" model for the same price as other platforms, including a year subscription to all the upgraded features.
Since purchasing Skylight, we've been able to quickly add every sport and activity, along with our Outlook and Apple calendars into one color-coded calendar the whole family can view. Without the additional subscription, we would not be able to also use the meal planner or the photo feature. While the latter wasn't a deal breaker for us, we've really enjoyed adding favorite pictures to our family slideshow to see rotating when we walk through the kitchen.
The setup and maintenance have been relatively simple. It's aesthetically pleasing and doesn't take up an unreasonable amount of counter space. I recommend placing your device in a high-traffic area of your home, where every family member can access. The fun photo feature is a great reminder to check the calendar each day, and the app makes it easy to reference when you're not home. It's been a valuable tool during this busy school year!
