Now for the second most frequented room in our home--the family room. This is where we watch TV, have family movie night, play board games and read books. It is also one of the rooms that sold me on our house, even in its original outdated state.
Since then, we've stained the beamed ceiling and painted the built in bookshelves. We've had wood floors installed, and shutters added. Our beloved couch/loveseat combo from Crate & Barrel that arrived just four months before the pandemic really made the room. I love it! It's also held up incredibly well.
Therefore, this room needs minimal tidying (which is why I placed it during my birthday month)!
In terms of Step 1: Clear, Clean and Repair; we have just a few things to do.
Mop the wood floors. Even with the area rug, there's a good amount of wood that needs a thorough cleaning. I need to really get under the couches too, to clear out any dust bunnies and bouncy balls that may be hiding there!
We have a broken subwoofer that needs to be repaired or replaced. It's a key part of the movie experience.
Couch cleaning. I need to spot clean any small stains on the couches, and vacuum under the cushions.
Dust everywhere, including the ceiling fan.
Ceiling touch ups. This could prove more complicated if I can't find the right paint. I'm crossing my fingers that it's properly labeled in the basement!
This space gets a lot of attention and love. It's a happy place for our family!
