For part two of our family room tidy, we have just a few improvements to make. Again, it's a room that works really well for us, so it doesn't need a lot of updating.

In terms of improvements (Step 2,) we needed a fresh new lampshade to replace a dingy one on the table lamp. A few of our pillows have seen better days, so I'm grabbing a few new down inserts from Ikea. I replaced all the batteries in the faux candles in this room, and they all pop on around 5:30 now. It provides a nice warm ambience in the space! Finally, I'm crocheting a squishy, chocolate brown throw blanket, and both the texture and color are cozy. I won't finish it this month, but I'm hoping to have it complete by Thanksgiving.

I'm always looking for easy maintenance solutions (Step 3), so I added a cloth basket to the fireplace to hold knickknacks and miscellaneous toys. This way, they can be easily scooped up, and the room is instantly neat. My nephew has it all figured out too and he makes a beeline for this basket when he arrives!

This space is so nice in the evenings with the warm lighting and comfortable layers. A few cozy blankets and some flickering candles can make the atmosphere just right this time of year!
