Tuesday Morning Tidy: 12 Months of Tidy, Kids Bedroom-Part 1

My youngest has not had much of a bedroom update since moving out of a crib. It's about time. This is my kid who will benefit from a simple space with less upkeep required.
As I do each month, I'm starting with the first of these three steps:
Clear, clean and repair. Identify any materials needed in advance to make this possible.
Assess how we use the space for making improvements.
Identify ways to maintain it more easily going forward.
We have some small repairs to make, so I will need just minimal supplies for that following my deep clean:
New screws for doorknobs
spackle and sandpaper
touch up paint
duster
Cleaning/microfiber cloths
trashbags
Clear
In every room, I start with sorting initial items into trash, donate and relocate. If things are not useful and in the right place, they go into one of these three piles. For this room, I went through clothes and books to donate those we've outgrown. There were some toys that needed to be moved to the basement (we don't keep many in bedrooms), and some knickknacks that needed to be tossed.
Clean
I'm in the midst of this phase right now. I need to dust the fan and surfaces, then wipe them all down. I took down the curtains since we've installed shutters since I put them up, and they just don't work very well with the window placement along the wall anyway. I'm washing them, and I'll donate those as well. Finally, I need to clean the carpets in this space.
Repairs
Now that the curtains are down, I need to patch and touch up the paint on that wall. This room has two closets with sliding doors, and the knobs all seem loose. The screws are stripped, unfortunately, so I need to replace those with new ones.
Nothing too major here, but stage two should be fun. I've got a few organizational updates to make that will also be fun for personalizing the space!
