Last week, I covered the cleaning and clearing in one of the kid's bedrooms.

I dusted, spackled, sanded and cleared out old books and toys. I steam cleaned the carpeting! This room really looks good. Stage two was really the part I was looking forward to in this space.

Assess for Improvements:

There are actually two closets in this child's room, so we use the second one for off-season and linen storage. The guest pillows and comforters come in handy when we have visitors, but they are so bulky. Every time we opened that closet, it was like playing whack-a-mole to get it closed again because pillows would come flying out.

I found these compression storage bags to hold comforters and pillows, and they have made a huge difference! I've got multiple queen-size comforters in one, and half a dozen pillows in the other. I highly recommend if you've got guest storage problems like we did.

There was a floppy hamper in this room that made it look sloppy and fell over unless it was full. I picked up a sturdy industrial style hamper on wheels at a recent trip to Costco, and it has already made a huge improvement. I can't find the exact one online, but this one is very similar. No more clothes on the floor!

Maintenance:

Our final step in this room is to add shelves above each closet to display trophies and special treasures. This will help keep the bookshelf clear for items that are needed on a regular basis, rather than for all the many collectibles our child loves.

There isn't much else in the way of maintenance needed in this space, but the cleaning and clearing have made it much easier to keep cleaned and organized. d She Writes Amazon Storefront
