For our laundry room's second phase, I hit my stride and the fun stuff!

In assessing how we use the space to make improvements, I finally solved a yearslong conundrum for our family--hat storage.

Years ago, I purchased a rack from Pottery Barn to store our kids' coats and backpacks. It screws into the studs and is super sturdy. But it often gets cluttered up with hats from all of us, leaving few spots open for its intended purpose. After trying several alternative solutions over the years, I finally landed on a very traditional solution--an accordion hat rack.

So far, so good! And the color matches our existing Pottery Barn rack.

I also had another storage solution to identify. Since switching back from a front-loading washer to a top loader, I was down to just the dryer top for surface space. In addition to storing our sock basket and laundry soap here, I was also keeping the dryer balls and lint trash on the dryer. These handy Amazon storage finds have cleared some space and keep them out of sight, yet at arm's reach!

This will help keep track of the dryer balls and decrease the clutter on top of the dryer. For less than $30 total, it was an affordable update as well.
