Today's post will be brief but hopefully includes a few tips that will come in handy. We had family over the other day, and I was appreciative that over the years, I've found many ways to conquer the clutter in and around our house. It was easy to clean up and prep for guests! Here are a few of my favorites:

  1. If you can complete the task in 1 minute, do it now. This is not an item you need to purchase but rather a mindset that can be really helpful in keeping things fairly tidy.

  2. Keep a tiny trashcan in your car. I have this itty-bitty trashcan that fits in my side cup holder, and I empty it when I go to pump gas. It keeps gum wrappers, nametags and other small trash out of my car.

  3. A basket for every floor. I keep a fairly large decorative basket (but not as large as a laundry basket) on every floor of our house. When I come across something that needs to be put away, but I either don't know where or I'm in a rush--it goes in this basket. Once every week or two, I sort the basket and bring things up or down depending on where they need to be stored permanently. If guests are coming, it's small enough to hide in a closet too!

  4. Robot Vacuum. While we still need to vacuum with our Shark every other week or so, our eufy robot vacuum prevents the dust and crumbs from getting out of hand.

  5. Two+ sets of things. I have at least two sets of towels for the bathrooms, two sets of sheets for each bed, and two blankets for the couches. One can always be in the wash when the other is in use. For the kitchen and powder room, I have lots of extras!

The 12 Months of Tidy has also been a great exercise in keeping our house manageable, maintained and functional.
