Tuesday Morning Tidy: Gift Hack

After years of kids' birthday parties and teacher/coach gift giving, I think I finally have a recipe for being prepared!

I always encourage my kids to select thoughtful gifts for their friends, and we often pick out just the right thing ordered well in advance of a party. I love when kids make and give handmade cards too, so we often do that as well. However, life intervenes, and these Saturday afternoon festivities still sneak up on us. I've found it's best to be prepared with backup plans.

For that reason, I make sure to keep the following items handy:

  • Target gift cards--I buy these in $25 increments, and I always have two or three tucked away for gift-giving.

  • Card assortment. I have found that Costco usually has high quality variety packs. I also like the cards from Trader Joe's, and they're just $1 each!

  • For teacher and coach gifts, I like to keep a selection of Swig mugs and Starbucks gift cards. They're practical and easy to store.

I always have a roll of brown kraft paper, white tissue, and a variety of pretty ribbon to wrap mugs or gifts for a variety of recipients.

Just a little planning, and I'm never caught with a last-minute trip to Walgreens before a party!
