Happy Birthday to ASW!

It's hard to believe we're two years in to this little project of ours, And She Writes! It's officially our blog‘s birthday this week, and we're celebrating with our thoughts on this endeavor.

Fay

I can't believe how busy life has gotten in just these last few months as events return and schedules ramp up. Even with summer arriving, work and social activities are coming fast and furious. When we launched this project back in spring 2020, we were slogging through each day with very little social interaction and no sense of when life might ever return to "normal" from the pandemic.

And here we are, two years later, still feeling the effects of the pandemic, but also experiencing social and political issues that send us reeling almost daily. This outlet and community provide a place to learn and reflect on literature, current events and also the lighter things in life (vacation! shopping! food!). In the end, we are all human, and there must be a balance that includes both sadness and joy.

I share many of the same sentiments as Fay. When we began this blog, it was an outlet to connect and share. It was a way to keep ourselves engaged in something outside of work from home and our kids’ learning at home. We felt a lot of uncertainty when we launched the blog, and now we find that life is back full swing (maybe busier than before) as we navigate life with COVID.

This last quarter of the school year was a sprint to the finish line with an abundance of school events, programs, recitals, etc. It felt like many aspects of life that were on pause for two years had resumed all at the same time. Even as we adjust to life now, it’s still fun and exciting to share ideas, thoughts and reviews with our community.
